Medior/Senior PHP & Symfony Developer

Location: Vlissingen or Brussels

As a Medior/Senior PHP & Symfony Developer, you work hands-on on our projects and help the development team grow further in quality, collaboration, and craftsmanship as a technical lead. You are an experienced developer and a team coach — a builder in the broadest sense of the word.

What you will do

You write code yourself, and you do it well
You fully participate as a Senior Developer. You work in PHP (with the Symfony framework), review code, and hold high standards for quality, testability, and architecture. You take on complex components, contribute to technical decisions, and provide direction on how we build. Not a coach on the sidelines, but a role model in practice.

You help the team grow
You coach fellow developers in best practices, debugging, testing, version control, and design patterns. You do pair programming, give workshops, or share knowledge in the way that suits you. You help others grow in ownership and critical thinking, and actively contribute to learning paths or team development.

You provide technical direction
You work with product owners and project managers on smart, feasible solutions. You help determine when to upgrade, rewrite, or abstract. You continuously maintain the balance between short-term impact and long-term maintainability. Consider aspects such as scalability, security, performance, and testability.

You improve how we collaborate
You introduce better development processes such as branching strategies, test coverage, or CI/CD. You help build a healthy feedback culture and ensure more standardization in tooling, code style, API documentation, and libraries. You make sure we not only build well but also efficiently and cohesively.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in PHP development (3+ years as Medior), preferably with Symfony experience.

• Understanding of the fundamentals of software architecture.

• Technically strong, communicates clearly, and knows how to give constructive feedback.

• Enjoys collaborating with other hubs and disciplines, and gets energy from building both people and products.

• Based in the Netherlands.
