The DPC team made the decision to change the planned in-person conference to an online conference for 2022. We truly would have loved to get together in Amsterdam once more. It’s been a long time!
But we feel that the conditions aren’t there yet to organize the kind of conference we want:
We want to organize an inclusive conference where everyone is welcome. The pandemic forces us to make choices we don’t want to make. DPC attracts visitors from around the globe that are faced with wildly different circumstances, rules and regulations regarding this pandemic. It’s too restrictive.
A big factor is also the response from our call-for-papers. It shows that speakers are (understandably!) not ready to commit. We anticipate that attendees from around Europe and beyond will have similar reservations traveling and attending DPC.
These are not the ingredients for a successful DPC conference. You know, the kind we organized for the past 15 years: a no-compromise inclusive conference, bringing a community closer together.
This leaves the DPC team with the difficult decision to not organize an in-person DPC this year, and make this an online event instead.
This means we’ll contact every speaker that has submitted a CFP, and ask them to reconfirm speaking at our online edition of DPC 2022. With apologies to everyone affected by our decision.
We have also selected a new date for the online conference day: 24 June 2022
Just as last year, DPC 2022 will be a free to attend conference, welcoming everyone to gain insights and get inspired around PHP & web technology! We hope to see you online!
