Symfony in service of the modular monolith
Today, PHP is not a tool used only for small web applications, but is also widely adopted in the enterprise applications market. The bigger and more complex the project, the more issues we face with organizational aspects, and the more effort needs to be placed on managing the workflow in a multi-team environment.
One way to help with that is modularization. It impacts many areas within our organizations, and one of them is definitely our technical solutions. We have already moved past the era of microservices hype, and in recent years, the modular monolith has emerged as a go-to solution in many cases.
This talk will focus on practical examples of how the Symfony framework can be used to help develop applications with this kind of architecture. We will look at an example project structure and go through specific examples of how various Symfony mechanisms can help solve challenges related to modularization. A brief look at general thoughts on modularization will also be included.
